From noon to 1 this Wednesday, December 14th, Dr. Karen Daily will speak at Cancer Connections about

"Advances in Breast Cancer: a Review and an Update."

 

 This "Lunch and Learn" event is being held in collaboration with the North Central Florida Cancer Control Collaborative (NCFCCC), through a Florida Breast Cancer Foundation grant.

The grant is providing a healthful lunch, and 1 free CEU to those eligible.  For more information about the CEUs, please contact Myesha Ponder, WellFlorida associate planner, at 352-313-6500 x 134.

 

Dr. Daily's presentation will begin at 12:10, so please arrive at HealthStreet no later than 12 noon.

Cancer Connections is NEXT WEEK


Next week, on Wednesday November 9th, Dr. David Tran, chief of neuro-oncology at UF Health, will be speaking about using a laser system to open a temporary "window" in the blood-brain barrier.  This remarkable process enables crucial chemotherapy drugs to pass into the brain for up to six weeks, in the treatment of glioblastomas.

 

Dr. Tran's presentation will begin at 12:10, so please arrive at HealthStreet no later than 12 noon.

We need your RSVP by Monday November 7th if you'll be partaking in lunch                ($4 donation requested). Otherwise, please bring your own lunch so that there will be plenty for those who RSVPd.

Call Erick at HealthStreet at 294-4871 by Tuesday the 8th if you would like to the take the free shuttle to and from the meeting.  The shuttle picks up at the Davis Cancer Center, the V.A., the U.F. Health cancer hospital, and at Hope Lodge, by reservation.

Join us for a webinar discussing lung cancer screening, a process for reducing deaths from the most common cause of cancer deaths in men and women in the United States. Lung cancer screening with a low-dose CT scan raises complex issues and requires thoughtful consideration for the heavy smoker eligible for screening. Our presenters will share their work over the past few years looking at best messaging practices.

Survivors for Research Presents: 50s Fab Pink Patio Party!


The non-profit Survivors for Research, Inc. ( www.survivors4research.org) will be hosting a 

"50s Fab Pink Patio Party"  at the Great Outdoors Restaurant in High Springs on

October 27th from 6-9 p.m. 

 

Proceeds will be donated by the Great Outdoors to Survivors for Research to help support ongoing research at the U.F. Health Cancer Center.  The research focuses on finding more effective treatments for triple negative breast cancer.

Don't forget to tell them at the door that you are there for the Pink Patio Party.

 

Please join us for a very fun evening while supporting a great cause.  Dress in your 50s pink (or not) and try some of the pink drinks created for this event!  There will be raffle drawings, a live DJ, great food, and for dessert, some fabulous, triple layer-pink strawberry cake!   Whole cakes may be ordered throughout the month of October, with proceeds of the cake sales being donated as well.
