Join us! Our Community, Our Health: Town Hall on Prostate Cancer



 



An event that is important to our community

 

HealthStreet is working with the Florida Minority Cancer Research and Training (MiCaRT) Center and UF Health Cancer Center to host an event called Our Community, Our Health. It’s simply a town hall event where we bring health experts and the community together to discuss health priorities of our community and to share new health care and research.

Triple Negative Breast Cancer

Cancer Connections and WellFlorida’s North Central Florida Cancer Control Collaboration (NCFCCC) are teaming up to bring you, "Triple Negative Breast Cancer", a Lunch and Learn session with guest speaker, Dr. Tina Lam. 
The training session will be held on Oct. 19 from 12-1 p.m. at HealthStreet, 2401 SW Archer Road, Gainesville.

Making the End Count: Palliative and End of Life Conference 2016

Suwannee River Area Health Education Center and University of Florida Health will be hosting their annual conference, Making the End Count, Sept. 23 at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center. The annual conference targets health care providers, social workers, health professionals and community members who are interested in gaining skills for end-of-life care. This years conference, “The Future of Palliative Care: Connections between Communities and Health Care Systems,” will feature keynote speaker, Professor Gloria Bonner, Ph.D., R.N.
A $100 registration fee is required for this conference. The fee includes all sessions, lunch, snacks, professional networking and continuing education.

Please join us for High Tea at the Capri Clubhouse located at 4412 NW 36th Drive. You will be served tea, mimosas, finger sandwiches, and desserts.

Seating is limited, so please purchase your tickets early.

 

Survivors Barb Thomas and Terry Weber are passionate about helping others who are fighting breast cancer. As founders of Survivors for Research, it is our goal to provide funding to the researchers at UF Cancer & Genetics. With your help, that goal can be reached.

Click on the Donate button, and fill in the necessary fields. In the message section, write “TEA ticket" so we know you’re attending the Tea. If you are purchasing multiple tickets, please also include the names of the others attending.  OR, you may write a check payable to Survivors for Research, Inc. and mail it to : P.O. Box 358584 Gainesville, FL 32635.  Write “TEA” on the bottom left of the check.

 

CAPRI is located off 34th Street, just north of 39th Avenue. Driving north, Capri will be a left turn onto 44th Place. The clubhouse is at the end of 44th Place. There is a small parking lot, with additional parking on one side of 44th Place.  Signs will indicate parking.

 

Wear your favorite hat and dress! There will be a “Best Hat” contest. There will also be some great items to be raffled, so bring some cash J.  Raffle tickets will be $5 each or 3 for $10.
