Project REACH (Recover, Empower, Adapt, Cope and
Heal) is an intervention study that combines support and health information
into a digital format to improve health outcomes among Black women who have
been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. The program is part of a research
study at the University of Florida and is sponsored by the American Cancer
Society. We use 10 short, highly engaging, films to deliver valuable breast
cancer health information and structured support over a ten week period to engage
women in self-management of their treatment process. At the beginning and end of the study, we
schedule women for a brief assessment that asks questions about their understanding
of breast cancer and their relationship with their cancer doctor. If eligible,
any information we ask will not be revealed to anyone, and participants will
earn up to $60 for completing the entire program. For more information please
contact Lauren Hearn at 352-273-6013.
