Developments in Lung Cancer: Screening Guidelines, Payments and the Role of Patient Navigators

In recognition of National Lung Cancer Awareness Month, this webinar will highlight efforts to reduce the burden of lung cancer utilizing the new screening guidelines. Lung cancer is the third most common cancer and the leading cause of cancer death in the United States. Early-stage diagnosis of lung cancer has a better prognosis and can be treated more effectively. This webinar will highlight effective practices leading to earlier diagnosis.


Learning objectives
  • Discuss the US Preventive Services Task Force recommendations for lung cancer screening released in December 2013 and their effect on treatment and access to care
  • Discuss the current status of coverage for lung cancer screening, including private insurance and Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services
  • Identify how community programs, services and health navigators can support lung cancer screening programs, treatment programs and healthcare professionals
Intended Audience: Health Care Navigators and Professionals, Community Health Workers, Administrators and Interested Stakeholders
