Women with HIV are at increased risk for cervical cancer and cervical precancerous disease. Understanding the impact of HIV on cervical cancer and HPV infection is important for appropriate screening and management of these women. This presentation will provide the following objectives:

• To understand the impact of impaired cell mediated immunity on the natural history HPV in women with HIV

• To understand the epidemiology and management of intraepithelial neoplasia in women with HIV

• To follow women with HIV and abnormal Paps/CIN in a way that minimizes both cervical cancer risk and burden of care

Dr. Massad is a professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. His career has focused on cervical cancer prevention, and he has also worked on assessing relationships between HIV-induced immunosuppression and cervical cancer and cancer precursors.
